ASA MEET INFORMATION
Good evening families,
First off, thank you again for all of the birthday wishes! Days like today make me extra grateful to be apart of this swim community.
We are less than 48 hours away from the ASA Championship Meet! Please be sure to arrive to the McAuley Aquatic Center (750 Ferst Dr, Atlanta, GA 30332) NO LATER THAN 7:20 AM. We will be meeting in front of the building and will be waiting outside until our team is called to enter. We will be holding up St. Marlo signs so that you can find us! All swimmers are required to enter the building together AS A TEAM, so we cannot have stragglers arriving later!
Our team's warmup is 7:55-8:10 AM. We have the earliest warmup session. That being said, there is going to be over an hour before the meet actually starts at 9:30 AM. While not ideal, this is so that ALL 16 TEAMS in our division can have time to warm up! Please bring cards, games, electronics, and other gadgets to keep your swimmers occupied until it is their time to swim. There will also be concessions and a swim shop where swimmers can purchase swim apparel.
Upon entering the McAuley Aquatic Center, you will notice that there are TWO POOLS that will be used for both warm ups and competition (in addition to a diving well). In order to allow the meet to run more efficiently, ASA splits up competition between these two pools, with ALL GIRLS competing in the pool closest to the diving well and ALL BOYS competing in the pool closest to the scoreboard. Heat sheets are also split up accordingly, as there are essentially two different meets being ran at the same time!
Each year, teams alternate being assigned seating on the pool deck and in the spectators stands. St. Marlo has been assigned the spectator stands this year, specifically SECTION 202. Coaches will be leading the swimmers up to this section upon entering the building. This is another reason why it is vital to arrive ON TIME!
Once competition begins, you may notice that the order of events is DIFFERENT than our regular dual meets. ASA has designed the meet so that 6 and Under swimmers are able to swim their events and leave as soon as possible! The ORDER OF EVENTS is as follows:
- 6 and Under Free Relays
- ALL Medley Relays
- 6 and Under 25 Free
- ALL Remaining Free Relays
- 6 and Under Back
- ALL Remaining Individual Events (Short Free, Long Free, Back, IM, Breast, Fly)
As you can see, there is a very quick turnaround for the 6 and Under events. Since our team is sitting up in the spectator stands, the coaches will likely keep the 6 and Under swimmers ON DECK so that they do not have to go up and down the stairs again and again! We will also likely do this for swimmers who are swimming in BOTH a Medley AND a Free relay.
Heat sheets are attached! Please check what events your child(ren) are swimming. I digitally highlighted all St. Marlo events and separated them by gender.
Phew... I'm probably forgetting something, but that is all I have for now!
Go Seals!
